Happy 100th Birthday Arizona, and congratulations.

Today marks a momentous achievement in our great state of Arizona’s history- 100 years of statehood. Congratulations Arizona, and happy birthday.

Looking back over these past 100 years, I am reminded of the people who have settled in Arizona, and made Arizona what it is today. Arizonans share Statehood-day-logo_Horz_RGB_HR-300x187many characteristics and traits.  Arizonans are resilient with tough and aggressive attitudes. When we think back to the Wild West, people who settled in Arizona were a different breed than those who settled further north or even in California. Several of RIESTER’s clients are fourth or fifth generation Arizonans with strong roots to the early beginnings of Arizona. Their family histories share a common thread – aggressiveness and work ethic led to the success they enjoy today. It is this attitude, this resilient behavior shared by Arizonans, that I believe makes Arizona a place where the American dream is truly alive and well.

This is why Arizona is home to many of today’s corporate pioneers. Companies like Medicis, United HealthCare, First Solar, and of course, GoDaddy, are all thriving here. The continued growth and success of great companies like these are a testament to the pro-business environment, the strength of the education and higher education facilities, and again, the attitude and climate of the Arizonans and our great state.

So it is with pride and genuine sincerity that I say again, Happy 100th Arizona. And congratulations.

Play with your food. No, really!

It’s that time of the year again – the time when all of our hard work on our holiday campaigns starts to pay off and we get to share with the world all of the fun we’ve been having! This year, together with one of our favorite clients – Idahoan Foods – we present to you Pilgrahoan.

Pilgrahoan by Idahoan is our way of putting the fun back into Holiday Fun.

RIESTER's Pilgrahoan - Spongebob Squarepants

RIESTER's Pilgrahoan: Spudbob Squarepants by Troy Pottgen.

We are inviting everyone to play with their food and enter the Pilgrahoan Celebrity Spud Showdown. Using only the foods we give them on a blank (virtual) Idaho potato as their canvas, the contestants will make celebrity look-a-likes, name their Celebrity Spud, and upload their creation to Facebook.

When we were concepting this idea, we sat sharing our favorite personal memories of holidays – and we couldn’t help but love the memories most of playing with our food on Thanksgiving. This seemed to be a theme we all kept coming back to – and an experience we all shared. So we decided to go with it- and make a fun holiday game out of playing with our food – virtually, of course!

Working on the Idahoan account over the years, has made everyone here at RIESTER crazy about Idahoan potatoes – and we’re excited and hopeful that the Pilgrahoan holiday contest will help us spread the love of potatoes with everyone.

If you haven’t yet made your fun, artistic creation, do it now! The competition is already looking fierce, but the fun is just beginning. And remember – creativity and originality wins!!

Cheers to a beautiful day, via Mark Kelly and Gabby Giffords.

Yesterday in Washington, after a prolonged and acrimonious debate, U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords made an emotional return to Congress and brought more goodwill to that body than almost anybody could have. In her determined recovery from a near fatal gunshot wound to the head, Gabby personifies the best of the human spirit, and the capacity to overcome even the worst of tragedies.

Below is a video of Mark Kelly saying hello to his wife from space, and a video of Gabby’s return.

RIESTER congratulates Mark and Gabby as they continue on their road back from that tragic day in Tucson earlier this year. Thanks for the inspiration.
