Africa Big Life Foundation

The RIESTER Foundation is proud to support the Big Life Foundation’s Ranger Program to protect African wildlife. Big Life Foundation’s area of operation covers more than 1.6 million acres across the Amboseli-Tsavo-Kilimanjaro ecosystem in East Africa. Big Life’s rangers protect and secure wildlife and critical habitat on some of the most important habitat left in all of Africa.

Big Life successfully achieves its mission through the implementation of a comprehensive ranger program consisting of more than 300 local community rangers and field staff, 40 permanent outposts and tent-based field units, 14 vehicles, 2 tracker dogs, and 2 planes for aerial surveillance. Big Life’s employment of Maasai rangers and field staff serves a dual purpose: it directly improves the livelihoods of local people and helps ensure a future of coexistence between people and animals.
